Scarborough Hosting British Longboard Club Championships

Each Club has 1 or more teams of 6 surfers all surfers are seeded A Team B Team etc. Each team member surfs in a 20 minute heat with 3 other surfers from different clubs the winner receives 5 points, 3rd 3points and so on. The points from each club are accrued over the 2 day event. The club with the most points for top seeds is the winner.
The majority of Surf Clubs are based in the South West of England. Last year the Royal Navy/Royal Marines hosted the event at Gwithian.
Scarborough is Ranked 2nd in the UK. Sennen are 1st and Hotdoggers are 3rd they are based in Saunton Devon.
The contest surfers are continually surfing in contests throughout the UK and Europe and the standard of surfing is extremely high.
Longboard/Malibu Board riding is the traditional style of surfing and the boards must meet the measurements and be at least 9ft long.
The Championships' is only open to Affiliated Longboard Clubs, the entry fee is £60 per 6 man team seeded.
